Privacy policy

Last updated: Oct 30, 2026

At PompeQC (pompeqc.com), we process as little information as possible. No sign-up is required, we use no advertising or tracking cookies (our visit statistics work without cookies), and we do not sell or share information with anyone. This policy is written in accordance with Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25).

Person in charge of the protection of personal information

The publisher of pompeqc.com (see the legal notice) is the person in charge of the protection of personal information. For any question or request: [email protected].

Information processed and purposes

1. Votes for stations

When you click the thumb 👍, we store in your browser a cookie containing a random identifier (it contains neither your name nor anything that identifies you) and, on our server, that identifier with the chosen station and the date. This ensures that each person votes only once per station and can withdraw their vote. Retention: as long as the vote exists; the cookie expires after one year.

2. IP address to prevent abuse

When you vote or calculate a route, your IP address is used only in memory to limit the number of votes and routes per hour. It is not stored in any database and is deleted automatically every hour.

3. Your location in “Near me”

Only if you click “Use my location” and allow it in your browser, your coordinates are sent to our server to find nearby stations. They are not stored: they are used for that search and then forgotten. Location is off by default and only turned on at your request.

4. Routes

In the route planner, you choose cities from a list. The route is calculated from our server with the OSRM service, using the centre of those cities: no information about you is sent.

5. Preferences stored in your browser

The calculator values (fuel consumption and litres) are stored only in your browser (local storage). They never reach our server.

6. Technical server logs

Like any website, the server and Cloudflare may record technical data about visits (IP address, date, page requested and browser) to keep the site secure and working properly. Our logs are kept for a maximum of 30 days and are not used to identify you or to build profiles.

7. Visit statistics

To know how many people visit the site and which pages they use most, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. When a page loads, your browser sends Cloudflare a notice with the page visited, the site you came from, your browser and device type, your country and performance data (how long the page took to load). It uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, does not build a profile of you or follow you across sites, and we only see aggregate figures (for example, “300 visits to the Laval page”). Your IP address reaches Cloudflare as with any visit, but it is not used for these statistics.

8. Contact email

If you write to us at [email protected], your email address and message are used only to reply to you and are deleted when no longer needed.

Service providers and communication outside Quebec

To run the site, we use the following service providers, who may only use the information to provide their service to us. Some information (IP address, anonymous votes) is therefore stored outside Quebec or transmitted through services outside Quebec:

Your browser also connects directly to cdnjs (Leaflet map library) and OpenStreetMap (map images), which may receive your IP address, and to Google Maps only if you click “Directions”.

Origin of the prices

Prices and station data come from the Régie de l’énergie du Québec (Régie essence Québec). They contain no personal information about visitors.

Your rights

You can request access to your information, its correction or deletion, and withdraw your consent, by writing to [email protected]. Since we do not ask you for any identifying information, we will need the identifier of your browser’s cookie to find your votes; you can also delete this cookie yourself at any time.

If you believe your request has not been handled properly, you can file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Changes

If we change the way we process information (for example by adding a feature), we will update this page and its date.
